Gideon Ampofo – Executive Director / Founder

Gideon’s top priority, as an aspiring finance professional, is to contribute his quota towards making the world a better place. He aims to be one of the best drivers of African economies, who will start thoughts to build a sustainable world without outskirts. His focus on this target inspires him to develop himself by discovering answers to challenges past his scholarly and physical capacities, as well as revealing respective limitations.

Gideon is an undergraduate student at Oberlin College, double majoring in Economics and Computer Science where he also serves as an Equity Research Analyst and Treasurer for the Oberlin Student Finance and Investment Club, President of the Oberlin College Model UN Club, and Admissions Ambassador for the College’s admissions office. Gideon Ampofo is a graduate of Mfantsipim School and Morning Star School.

Judah Isaac Kofi Eliezer – Director of Operations

Judah is passionate about people and nature. Diversifying his potentials made him an expert in innovative project management and inventing factory prototypes to address developmental problems. As an inspirational public rhetorician, strategic and tactical researcher, Judah strives to use his knowledge to contribute towards a better society. He recently graduated from the Ghana Immigrations Service Training School as an Officer. Other qualities that sets Judah apart is his negotiation, technical, team working, and design skills. He is also the CEO and founder of THE TRIBE ARTS, an expertise center for innovation in art and technology.

Thomas Anthonio Tafafa –Director of Finance

Thomas Anthonio Tafafa has played a major role in LGD’s development since its inception. He has a strong admiration for entrepreneurship and seeks to become one of the growing youthful entrepreneurs in Africa. Thomas served on a 12-member committee that organized the Ghana Youth Summit on Sustainability Development, a youth empowerment conference that congregated over 300 high school students from across Ghana for a conversation around sustainable development. He also served as a member of an Executive team that planned the Connect 2019 Summer Community Service Program and Expedition. Thomas is currently an undergraduate student at the university of mines and technology where he is majoring in renewable energy engineering. He aims to combine his passion for community service and engineering to help solve complex societal problems.

Akorfa Dawson – Legal and Administrative Director

Akorfa Dawson is a writer, reader, editor and the Management Team Coordinator of a creative community, Ink Up, which unearths, nurtures and supports creatives like herself. She is also a law student at the University of Ghana, Legon.
She is a two-time published contributing author under the auspices of the Ama Ata Aidoo Centre for Creative Writing’s thematic anthologies of short fiction: Adabraka- Stories from the Centre of The World and Larabanga- Stories from the Savannah.
She is an alumna of Wesley Girls’ High School. Her goal is to be a best-selling author and creativity coach.

Anthony Eduafo – Assistant Director for Development and Strategy

Undergraduate student concentrating in Economics and French at Soka University of America, Aliso Viejo California. Anthony has a passion for entrepreneurship, sustainable Finance and societal change. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Club Senate of the Soka University Student Council and Lead Researcher for Soka University’s Social Entrepreneurship & Economic Development Team. One of his life goals is to leverage his entrepreneurial drive as a means to societal change

Hannah Lormenyo –Assistant Director for Technology and Innovation

Hannah Lormenyo is an Electrical and Electronics Engineering undergraduate student at Ashesi university. She is the Lead for Developer Student Club Ashesi university and a facilitator for Developers in Vogue. Hannah loves supporting people in their Developer journeys. She is a big fan of sports, movies and music. My aim is to inspire the next generation of African leaders through exemplary Leadership in the world of Technology. Hannah holds a high school diploma from the Wesley Girls High School.

Hamza Ibrahim– Assistant Director for Communication

Hamza, who is from Ghana, is currently a freshman at Soka University of America, who is considering pursuing a double concentration in Social Behavioral Sciences and international studies. He has a passion for the study of Economics, Finance, and international relations. His combined interest in these fields motivates him to pursue policy research and seek opportunities in the finance sector. Being from Ghana, he has diverse and interesting takes on policy actions regarding global socio-economic problems. His current participation in the anti-Counter Violent Extremism with the ISA Cohort to help out minority groups targeted by government surveillance is proving impactful after attending a weekend seminar at the University of California, Berkeley.

Outside of class and community work, Hamza writes poetry and shares his literature with everyone around him. He also loves debate and is part of the MUN Club at his college and has participated in conferences in the greater Los Angeles Area. He is also a collegiate athlete, part of his school’s Men’s Track and Field team. He loves watching Tv drama series and thrillers and has a diverse taste in music, including R&B and Afrobeat’s. He is excited to be a part of LGD to continue his work of reaching out to communities and contributing to shaping the leadership framework of the developing youth in Ghana.

Ian Nii Kwate Quartey – Assistant Director for Human Resource

Ian Nii Kwate Quartey is a persistent, committed and motivated upcoming poet, spoken word artist and author. Ian loves volunteering and helping to make the world a better place. He served on a 12-member committee that organized the Ghana Youth Summit on Sustainability Development, a youth empowerment conference that congregated over 300 high school students from across Ghana for a conversation around sustainable development. He also served as a member of an Executive team that planned the Connect 2019 Summer Community Service Program and Expedition. Ian is a team player with no qualms about working hard. He is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Ghana majoring in Political Science, Information Studies and Sociology. Ian’s motivation is driven by his favorite quote “When plan A doesn’t work, twenty-five alphabets follow right? Let’s get busy – Unknown”

Francis Ofosu Kumi – Assistant Director for Planning/Marketing

Francis Ofosu-Kumi is currently an undergraduate student at Wesleyan University, USA.  Prior to joining the League for Global Development, he served as the coordinator for YAF Ghana- a non-profit organization that helps disadvantaged Ghanaian students learn about the various scholarships and funding avenues available in Ghana and abroad to help them pursue higher education. Francis is a Computer Science and Economics double major. Francis’s hobbies are soccer, reading and programming. He is also very passionate about technology and community service.

Samuel Ackon – Assistant Director for Programs

Samuel Ackon is a poet, software developer, graphics designer and an undergraduate student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology majoring in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. He is an alumna of Mfantsipim School. His goal is to be a one of the leading technologist worldwide and a relentless philanthropist.

Ophelia Gayle Hughes – Assistant Legal and Administrative Director

It is Gayle’s passion to see the world become a better place, to see smiles on people’s faces and to use her skills to support people in building themselves up to their maximum capacity. Over the years she has sought after this vision which requires her to constantly improve herself. Presently, Gayle pursues a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Ghana. She is an alumna of Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School where she served as Senior Prefect during the 2018/2019 academic year. Gayle believes in leadership through service which she does with a smile.
